I want to include non-employees, family and friends to volunteer

This feature is only available on our volunteering module.

Our register a colleague feature is a great way to get teams and team members to register each other to an opportunity in the marketplace. However we understand that certain activities are a great way to include non-employees such as visitors, family and friends.

For volunteering opportunities that you would like to include non-employees you can add them in when creating the opportunity.


Company Admin > Volunteering > Action > Manage Volunteering

In Add Volunteering Opportunity

By clicking on Actions then selecting create an opportunity with or without a template a window will appear

Scroll down to the tick box below. The default is both boxes are ticked and register a colleague feature is restricted to Employees only.

To include non-employees in this opportunity, leave the first tick box ticked and untick the Employees Only box as shown below.

Then continue completing the rest of the fields and click Next.

In Edit Preview of an opportunity

If you decide to include non-employees after the opportunity has been created you can go to Edit Preview of the opportunity. You will see the same tick box on the left side of your screen in the Edit fields, it typically is located just below the Scheduling section.

To include non-employees in this opportunity, leave the first tick box ticked and untick the Employees Only box as shown below.

Then scroll down to the bottom of the screen and click Save. This will update the opportunity to include the non-employees such as visitors, friends and family.

Tip: From time to time you may have interns or similar stakeholders working at your organisation. You can use this feature to include them in opportunities.


When you have activated non-employees, employees can click on the Register a Colleague button and the window will appear with the appropriate fields for you to enter details of your non-employee.
